Geoffrey visiting Yves' home town in Brittany, North-West France — two French expats building something new on the other side of the world.
Kootto was founded by two French expats, Geoffrey, a software engineer, and Yves (Ian), a professional chef, who built the platform between surf sessions on the Gold Coast, just down the road from Brisbane. Southeast Queensland's relaxed outdoor entertaining culture was front of mind from day one.
The Problem We Kept Seeing
Back home in France, booking a private chef was simple, browse menus, pick what you like, book, done. In Australia, clients faced endless back-and-forth emails, vague pricing, and menus that arrived days later. Brisbane's growing appetite for premium in-home dining deserved a better experience than that.
